Communication between microIOC and counters

Data from BLM Signal Conditioners are transferred
throughout RS485, RS232 or Ethernet interfaces to
central master unit (e.g: microIOC), host controller
(PC), or Ethernet switch.

Thanks to RS485 multipoint communications, more Signal Conditioners can be connected, using a daisy chain topology to monitor beam loss around an accelerator storage ring or booster.

BLM controller provides supply voltage to the Bergoz detectors. The BLM controller can be supplied via on-board power connector, or remotely via RS485 or Ethernet ports (distributed power signals are connected according to the power over Ethernet standard 802.3af).
